Tanks and splittertowers in Gent

In an existing and very congested chemical plant, storage tanks and splitter columns needed to be removed and scrapped. Working in the heart of the plant, the challenge was to fit in equipment and methods to remove the items while the plant was still live. Due to dangerous environment, the tanks and columns were lifted out in one part and transported to a scrapping area outside the plant.

In a period of less than 2 weeks four tanks and towers including associated piping and foundations were removed and scrapped.
